Airway-Focused Orthodontics
Orthodontics is about more than straight teeth. The relationship between the teeth, jaws, tongue, facial structures, and airway can all play a role in how we breathe, bite, and function.
At Harmony Orthodontic Studio, we take these relationships into consideration as part of a comprehensive approach to orthodontic care.
The Connection Between Orthodontics & Airway
Jaw position, arch width, tongue space, bite, and facial structure can all be connected to the space available for the airway. Looking at these factors gives us a more complete understanding of your orthodontic needs rather than focusing on tooth alignment alone.
For growing patients, it also gives us the opportunity to evaluate how these structures are developing and whether orthodontic treatment may help support healthier growth.
What We Look For
During an orthodontic evaluation, we consider your bite, jaw relationships, arch development, tongue space, facial balance, and other signs that may indicate an airway or functional concern.
When something falls outside the scope of orthodontics, we may recommend working with another healthcare provider as part of a more comprehensive approach.
Looking at the Whole Picture
Every patient is different. Our goal is to understand how the pieces work together and create an orthodontic plan that considers aesthetics, function, balance, and long-term health.
